This study included 15 women and 7 men, between ages 36-83. The results show they experienced an improvement in their life on 3 aspects. Firstly they got an active lifestyle. Secondly, they moved on to a better social life. Lastly, they were able to better manage their condition on their own
Twisted neck (Muscular Torticollis)
Twisted neck is a deformity that causes the neck to be tilted to one side and turned to the opposite side. Researchers have discovered new actions that can help reduce this condition in many ways.
Firstly allow infants to be on their tummy promotes strong neck muscles.
Secondly, screen all infants for the first six months to check for issues.
Lastly introduce physical therapy to improve the neck range of motion, strength and alignment.
Cystic Fibrosis
Statistics from Cystic Fibrosis Canada show that 61.5% of the Canadians with Cystic Fibrosis were adults. Which is a serious genetic disease affecting mainly the digestive system and lungs. There are many difficulties of having CF. Mainly digesting fats and proteins. Then the inability to absorb nutrients. Followed by lung damage, diabetes and sinus infections.
The University of Adelaide has found that cells causing this disorder can be successfully replaced with healthy ones. The initial step is to harvest adult stem cells from the lungs of the patient. Soon after, correct them with gene therapy and reintroduce the cells back into the new patient. This passes on healthy genes and allows the airways to replenished with healthy cells that can combat CF airway disease. The technique can increase the improvement of those combating this illness.
